Entrevest is co-investing in HEALANT®, the Belgian deeptech spin-off from Vrije Universiteit Brussel that is developing a self-healing polymer layer designed to make tyres puncture-resistant. The €4 million funding round is being led by Entrevest and Polish venture capital fund Radix, and will support HEALANT® in bringing its validated technology to market.
Through this investment, Entrevest reinforces its role as a Belgian growth partner for innovative companies seeking to fundamentally transform traditional industries. HEALANT® is a strong fit with this investment focus: a solid technological foundation, a clear industrial application, international scalability and a solution to a tangible challenge in mobility, sustainability and material use.
Punctured tyres remain a persistent and costly challenge across a wide range of sectors, from cycling and automotive applications to industrial mobility. They result in downtime, waste, safety risks and additional costs. HEALANT® has developed a self-healing polymer layer that automatically seals punctures, extending tyre life and significantly reducing waste. The technology responds directly to the growing demand for sustainable, robust and efficient mobility solutions.
The new funding will be used to support the commercial launch of HEALANT®, scale up the production process and further develop the company’s go-to-market strategy and partnerships.
For Entrevest, the investment in HEALANT® is a clear illustration of how the fund brings together entrepreneurship, capital and strategic guidance. Entrevest invests in Belgian growth companies with initial market traction and clear technological differentiation, supporting them not only financially, but also through strategic expertise, a strong entrepreneurial network and hands-on guidance throughout the next stage of growth.
“HEALANT® is exactly the type of company Entrevest was established to support: a Belgian technology-driven scale-up transforming a traditional industry with a tangible, scalable and sustainable solution,” says Niels Diepvens, Founding Partner at Entrevest. “The technology is underpinned by strong scientific research, the market need is clear and the wider societal relevance is significant. As an investor, we aim not only to provide capital, but also to help accelerate commercial growth, establish the right partnerships and support HEALANT®’s international scalability.”
“For Entrevest, this investment also demonstrates that Flanders and Belgium have the talent, knowledge institutions and entrepreneurs required to bring deeptech with genuine industrial relevance to market,” Diepvens continues. “Our ambition is to support precisely those companies that introduce innovation in sectors where the potential impact is substantial. HEALANT® combines sustainability, materials innovation and a clear economic benefit for customers. That makes this a particularly compelling investment case.”
Simon Beckers, CEO and Founder of HEALANT®, adds: “We built HEALANT® on the belief that a better material can solve one of the oldest problems in mobility: punctured tyres. The science is sound, market demand is real and the timing is right. This funding round turns that belief into a product. We are building a platform that will change how the industry thinks about material durability, waste and product lifecycles. The support from Entrevest and Radix sends a strong signal, not only for HEALANT®, but also for what European deeptech can achieve when scientific expertise and commercial ambition come together from day one.”
